Galaxy LifeProof Case Vs Otter Case

So you’re wondering what’s better when it comes to the battle of Galaxy Lifeproof Case vs Otterbox Case. Bothcases have saved a lot of iPhones in their day and  there’s no doubt that they are both fine products. So, let’s take a look at which one does a better job and which one is a fit for you.

The first thing you’ll notice with these cases is the designs are quite different. The Lifeproof case is sleek in design and doesn’t add a lot of bulk to your iPhone. The Otterbox case is a little more bulky and has a solid rubber exterior that leaves you feeling safe in the unfortunate event that you drop your phone.  However, more recently, Otterbox has done a better job creating a more sleek design. If you’re buying an iPhone case simply on what it looks like, then there are probably much better options to suite your needs, but since you came to this page looking for Lifeproof vs Otterbox, chances are you want to know which one is better to keep your iPhone safe and sound. Now, I know you came here because you’re asking yourself which phone case is better, the Lifeproof case or the Otterbox? So, let’s jump right into it and compare these two cases.

Lifeproof vs Otterbox Drop Protection

Otterbox Drop Protection

  • Two-piece inner polycarbonate layer. (This is what snaps together around the phone.

  • Outer silicone layer that protects from drops and shocks.

  • Built-in screen protector that keeps you safe from scuffs and scratches.

Lifeproof Drop Protection

  • Polycarbonate frame.

  • Shock-absorbing elastomer. Tested to be safe for drops from 6.6 feet high.

  • Non-stick cover.

  • Scratch resistant screen protector.

Both phones do a good job of keeping your phone safe from those unexpected drops and tumbles that happens to everyone at one point or another. Of course there are always negative reviews out there and horror stories of the iPhone screen cracking while in one of these cases, but those are few and far in between and you’re much better off having one of these cases on than not having one on your phone.

WINNER: TIE - Both phone cases do an equally good job of protecting your phone from drops.

Lifeproof vs Otterbox Everyday Element Protection

The Lifeproof case markets their product to be exactly what it’s name says, life proof. The case is sealed so that nothing can get in, not even the smallest dust particle. The Lifeproof case is waterproof, dirt proof, snow proof, and shock proof. This is the biggest selling point of this case. You never have to worry that your iPhone will get damaged, whether by a drop or a plunge in the toilet.

The Otterbox on the other hand does not claim to be sealed to perfection. Their phone cases are built for heavy duty protection and not for protection against water and dirt. Some people complain that some dust particles gets into the case between the screen protector and the iPhone screen, and this can be a pain to take apart and clean.

WINNER: LIFEPROOF CASE – The Lifeproof case provides you protection from everything from water to dirt and is completely sealed so not even the smallest particle can get in. Otterbox provides none of this protection.

Otterbox vs Lifeproof Style

Otterbox has been around a little longer than Lifeproof, and they have a lot more options when it comes to style and design. Not only do they have four different series of cases (defender, reflex, commuter, and impact), they also have many different color options and designs. Otterbox has hundreds of designs to pick from, so that you can find one that fits your personality or interests.  They also have cases for a lot of other phones besides the iPhone.

Lifeproof goes to market a little differently. Right now, they just have solid colors, but have a handful to cater to your favorite color.

WINNER: OTTERBOX – The Otterbox has many more options for you to choose from.

So, when trying to decide on Otterbox vs Lifeproof, you need to figure out what purpose you want the case to serve. If you are just interested in a case that will provide you with protection from drops, then the Otterbox may be for you, because you’ll have more styles to choose from. If you want a phone case that will have your back and will protect your phone from anything it encounters, then you should definitely get a Lifeproof case.

In my personal opinion, the Lifeproof case is a better quality case and I want to be protected from anything that could destroy my expensive phone!
